Hello.
I'm James Hill, Technology Coordinator for Foothills AIM
Society. This position was newly created on December 8, 2003.
The
purpose of Society Technology
The purpose of this site is to provide a voice to all our
service and program areas and clients that will reach a far larger audience. It will also
extend itself as an information resource for persons with developmental
disabilities, their families and other relations, researchers, and
students. In addition, the service area itself is dedicated to
seeking better technologies for performing our duties and services,
and innovating new strategies to support our service delivery.

What
I do
One of the
most obvious functions I perform is to keep our website up and running with
current information and listings. Most importantly, the site must maintain our
purpose of advocating for persons with disabilities. And as we are
always developing and expanding our services, this site will also be a
continuing development.
Another responsibility is to work with the other service and program areas in seeking how
to make our internet forum available to their projects and pursuits.
Anything from surveys of services to fundraising campaigns requires an
effective distribution and project follow up. My job is to ensure we
are utilizing our technology to its best degree.
Security is also a major responsibility in keeping our network
maintained regularly and up to date. Unauthorized
information retrieval is fast becoming an organized
effort. As well, urban legends and hoaxes are also increasing the stir they cause
in emails. Keeping current, and maintaining a response
system, is vital to our ongoing operations. The link
below opens a new window and provides recent alerts
courtesy of Symantec.

A
little about myself My
experiences in the technologies have built upon my operating
skills in a variety of software
environments, from graphics programs and web publishing to full office suites under differing operating systems.
I have expanded my experience and familiarity with
corporate network and server systems, along with a
wider repertoire of scripting and programming languages.
My understanding of hardware components has also developed where
I am both comfortable and adept at diagnosis and repair. |

Current
Projects
There
are a number of activities that have been implemented on our
site. Click on the red text that starts each description
in order to go directly to those pages.
-
100%
Foothills - volume 1 began with
the donation of over 100 photographs of landscapes and
wildlife within the Foothills Alberta region. AIM
Society utilized Technology and volunteers to begin
scripting a CD which included navigation schemes to allow
selecting specific songs, and to browse forward and backward
through the presentation. The link above will take
viewers to a sub web where we have information dedicated
specifically to this product. For
computer enthusiasts, and those with an appreciation of
nature, and those who enjoy original country music, 100%
Foothills - volume 1 will provide an enjoyable experience
and attractive addition to anyone's CD collection.
